Scared Straight! DVD
Their crimes included assault and battery, arson, auto theft, breaking and entering, and possession and distribution of narcotics. While still minors, these juvenile delinquents were already on a one-way path to doing hard time.

Hosted by Peter Falk (Columbo), the Oscar® and Emmy® award-winning "Scared Straight!" recounts the day seventeen teenage lawbreakers spent inside the Rahway maximum security prison with the most dangerous criminals New Jersey had to offer. Calling themselves "the Lifers," these convicts gave the youths an in-your-face, no-holds-barred account about life in prison, sharing every ugly detail. Without a doubt, the teenagers' experience that day changed the course of their lives forever.

Now, for the first time on DVD, audiences can revisit "Scared Straight!," and see the lasting effects of the teenagers' encounter with the convicts. "20 Years Later" presents a fascinating "where are they now" update hosted by Danny Glover. The day documented in "Scared Straight!" was certainly unforgettable - the question is, did it work?

I first saw scared straight while I was in prison in West Germany in 1979. I put a face to every character in the film. Everytime I thought of "joining in on the fun" my mind reflected to my past. Now I am 45 married with twin 12y/o step-sons. Their biological father went to child prison at age 14, and soon after quit school. Now the boys are living what they learn from "HIM". They have started disrespecting their mom, (my wife). I put the hammer down and thank god I found this movie...again. I showed them what being tough is about, and how tough they aren't. I let them know they can treat their mom anyway they want, but no man will disrespect my wife. The convict came out and shined, then I ordered this movie. Now we have an understanding about life and the GOLDEN RULE. I cannot thank you enough for the movie. I will share it with as many troubled parents as I can.
